Welcome to the William P. Faust Public Library of Westland

We've joined MeLCat, a statewide borrowing system and the catalog of the Michigan eLibrary, sponsered by the Libary of Michigan, with over 200 participating libraries.

What does MeLCat do?
MeLCat gives patrons free access to library materials, via interloan, from across the state.

How do I access MeLCat?
The web address is http://elibrary.mel.org.

What can I request from MelCat?
You can request books and audiovisual material from MelCat libraries. However, each library has the option to restrict access to certain types of materials.

How long can I keep MeLCat items?
MeLCat items usually have a 21-day loan period with one renewal. Some audiovisual materials may be lent out for one week only.

What do I need in order to use MeLCat?
All patrons must have a valid library card at the Public Library of Westland. MelCat orders can only be placed for Westland residents. If you are a resident of another city, you will have to contact your home library to place MelCat requests.

Only those books that are unavailable at the Public Library of Westland can be requested.

We can also order US Census reels for the state of Michigan; this service is free. Please see a Reference Librarian to order these materials.
