To help raise awareness for National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, join journalist and poet, Jennifer Burd, as she reads from her recent book, Daily Bread: A Portrait of Homeless Men and Women in Lenawee County. Guitarist Laz Slomovits will be on hand to offer accompaniment to some pieces.
Ms. Burd will also be showing photos taken for the book by Lad Strayer. These photos will be exhibited throughout the library from November 15th through 29th. Anyone inspired to write a poem, story, reflection, based on these photos, is asked to attend and read their work. Contact andy.schuck@westlandlibrary.org or call 734-326-6123 for more information.
If you'd like to attend but don't have a poem, you can bring a can or box of food for donation to a local soup kitchen. Listeners, as always, are welcome.
