Always wondered if you'd make a good actor? Test your on-the-spot acting abilities by playing fun improv games. Learn new improv techniques from an experienced improvisational actor. Registration is open for the Red Cross Blood Drive taking place in meeting rooms A & B from 10 am to 4 pm next Monday, April 18th. We are hosting our final Dinner and a Movie for the season this Friday, April 15th from 6:15-9:30 p.m. The local restaurant providing dinner is local Chinese fav, Golden Chopsticks. Dishes include their sumptuous Grilled Bourbon Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Szechuan Lo Mein, and Vegetable and White Rice (we'll get the soft drinks and desserts). Tickets for dinner are $10. Our movie is the Academy-Award nominated flick, The Fighter, featuring an all-star cast including Academy-Award winners Christian Bale and Melissa Leo. Tickets can be bought until 9 p.m. Thursday. Teens! Celebrate National Poetry Month by reading your poetry aloud to a room full of your friends, family, and peers on Wednesday, April 6th. Get your poetic voice heard and win prizes! Done with your GRE test preparation books? Already read the newest Patterson novel? Kids grown out of those old Disney movies? Donate high-need items from the Library Wish List and you can get a coupon for a free book from the Friends of the Library book shop or quarterly book sale.
The library is now able to send out courtesy notices to help remind patrons of when their items are due. They will be sent 3 days before an item is due. These notices are by email only so if you would like to receive them please make sure that we have a current email address on file. You can do this at the Reference or Circulation Desk.
Whether you receive email notices or not, please remember it is your responsibility to return or renew your items on time.
Do you know an adult who has difficulty reading? They aren't alone. In the United States there are 30 million adults who can’t read well enough to understand a newspaper article at the eighth grade level or fill out a job application. We are currently recruiting tutors to start an adult literacy program at the library. Please stop by the reference desk or give us a call at 734-326-6123 and ask for Kristy.
