Today we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday with a special family story time. Come join us for 30 minutes of stories, rhymes and songs. Open to all ages, no registration required (children 6 years and under must be accompanied by an adult). Cookies and hot cocoa will be served after the story time.

Third and Fourth Grade Book Club meets monthly to explore imaginative stories and creative activities. We will discuss RIDING FREEDOM by Pam Munoz Ryan. Please register and pick up a copy of the book beginning February 2nd.

March's Book Club book is BEHIND THE BEDROOM WALL by Laura E. Williams. In this historical fiction Korinna loves her country & is a member of Hitler's youth group for girls. She is very angry when she learn her parents are hiding Jews in her house. Will she tell the Gestapo her parents are hiding Jews? Register & pick up a copy of the book beginning February 4th.

Art Start : Landscape Drawing
1:30pm to 2:30pm, ages 6 - 10, Children's Activity Room
Talented teen artist will lead this class for children ages 6 - 10. Children, bring a photograph of a landscape you would like to draw, or use one of ours. Learn how to use colored pencils to shade and enhance your drawing. Limited to 16 children.

Teen Knitting
6:00pm
Sit and knit (or crochet) in the teen area with Linda Sparkman of Black Sheep Northville. She can teach beginners the in's and out's of knitting or crocheting. Advanced knitters also welcome. Supplies provided. Sign up @ the Reference Desk. Every Wednesday, March through April. Ends April 28th.

Action for Earth - Planting Event
11:00am to 12:00pm, Families w/ children in K-8, Bailey Recreation Center
Join the library and the Action for Earth program ( Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum , Project S.N.A.P. ) as we plant the seeds that will be grown at the new Westland Community Garden. All families welcome.
Followed at noon by a walk to the library celebrating environmental progress in the city. At the library, all children are encouraged to create art that reflects their environmental outlook as part of Action for Earth's Art Creation and Collection.
Action for Earth - Art Creation and Collection
1:00pm to 5:00pm, children, K- 8th grade, Meeting Rooms A and B
All children and families are encouraged to attend and make art reflecting their environmental outlook. Each piece of art will be archived by Project S.N.A.P. and included in a 4' X 6' mural to be donated to the library on Earth Day. Children will be able to go to Project S.N.A.P.'s website and locate their work and its place in our community mural. Everyone welcome. Refreshments served.
Preceded by the Seed Planting event at the Bailey Center from 11 a.m. to noon and the environmental walk to the library at noon.
