Stress Reduction Workshop

Dr. Brian Brackney, chiropractor and member of The Foundation for Wellness Professionals will be the featured speaker. Stress is the underlying cause of most illnesses. This talk will focus on the symptoms of stress, how stress affects the body's overall health, and what a person can do to relieve stress both at work and at home, so that they can feel better and enjoy life more. Excel for the Beginner

This class serves as an introduction to Microsoft Excel for the very beginner. You will learn how to format cells, create lists, and alter the text in the cells. Adult Book Discussion Group

Join us as we discuss Diane Ackerman's The Zookeeper's Wife. When Germany invaded Poland, Stuka bombers devastated Warsaw and the city's zoo along with it. With most of their animals dead, zookeepers Jan and Antonina Zabinski began smuggling Jews into empty cages. Another dozen "guests" hid inside the Zabinskis' villa, emerging after dark for dinner and socializing.
Jan, active in the Polish resistance, kept
ammunition buried in the elephant enclosure and stashed explosives in the animal hospital. Meanwhile, Antonina kept her unusual household afloat, caring for both its human and its animal inhabitants—otters, a badger, hyena pups, lynxes.

Join the library and the Action for Earth program ( Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum , Project S.N.A.P. ) as we plant the seeds that will be grown at the new Westland Community Garden. All families welcome.
Followed at noon by a walk to the library celebrating environmental progress in the city. At the library, all children are encouraged to create art that reflects their environmental outlook as part of Action for Earth's Art Creation and Collection.

Action for Earth - Art Creation and Collection
1:00pm to 5:00pm, children, K- 8th grade, Meeting Rooms A and B
All children and families are encouraged to attend and make art reflecting their environmental outlook. Each piece of art will be archived by Project S.N.A.P. and included in a 4' X 6' mural to be donated to the library on Earth Day. Children will be able to go to Project S.N.A.P.'s website and locate their work and its place in our community mural. Everyone welcome. Refreshments served.
Preceded by the Seed Planting event at the Bailey Center from 11 a.m. to noon and the environmental walk to the library at noon.

Innocence Project with Kenneth Wyniemko

Ken Wyniemko was accused and convicted of a crime he did not commit. He spent 10 years in prison but was exonerated of the crime after attorneys from the Innocence Project; a group dedicated to using DNA samples to overturn wrongful convictions, came to his aid and pointed out discrepancies in his case. Come hear Ken and his attorneys talk about the experience and what they are doing now to help others in similar situations. This is an Everyone's Reading program.

Science Fiction/Fantasy Book Club

Join us for a discussion of Mary Shelley's classic Frankenstein. Victor Frankenstein is a young student who learns the secret of imparting life. Armed with this secret, he constructs a creature out of parts of the corpses he manages to obtain from churchyards and dissecting rooms. Once animated, this creature longs for empathy and human contact, but finds himself shunned by all. After a series of frustrating efforts at human connection, the hapless and enraged "monstrosity" turns to evil and brings a dreadful revenge upon his creator.
