Welcome to the William P. Faust Public Library of Westland

Now all ages

What you need:
Come to the reference desk with a picture ID

Know what operating system you have on your computer (is it Windows 98? Windows XP? Windows Vista or Mac OS X?)

At home you need to have your own computer, a modem and a land line phone connection.

About dial-up:
Dial-up internet goes through your phone line, so you will not be able to take incoming calls while you're on the internet.

Dial-up internet is a slow internet connection. Pages on the internet will load considerably slower than broadband internet connections like Comcast.

Setting up your dial-up connection:
When you come in we will give you step by step dial-up internet setup instructions to create your connection at home.

You will be given a login, password and dial-up number.

It is your responsibility to set up your internet connection at home. We cannot troubleshoot any difficulties you find setting it up. The company that is providing the free internet connection will also not be available for troubleshooting any problems. Tech savvy friends and family are always good sources for help.
