Michigan Notable Books is an annual program that features a juried selection of twenty outstanding titles - including fiction and nonfiction - published the previous year and set in Michigan or in the Great Lakes or written by a Michigan author.

This Thursday, June 4th, at 7 pm, the Library is proud to present Lolita Hernandez, author of the Michigan Notable Book Making Callaloo in Detroit. In Making Callaloo, she presents 12 unique stories about growing up in the city of Detroit as the daughter of parents from Trinidad and Tobago and St. Vincent. Ms. Hernandez is also the author of Autopsy of an Engine: And Other Stories from the Cadillac Plant, which is about her over thirty-three years as a United Auto Worker.

Copies of Making Callaloo in Detroit will be available for sale. Refreshments will be provided. Click here to sign up.
